Punakha Dzong

Punakha Dzong is the iconic landmark of Punakha Valley that boasts its beauty with a majestic fortress located on top of the Mo Chhu River. It is considered to be one of the oldest and largest Dzongs in the country making it a must-visit site in this region.

Punakha Suspension Bridge

Stretching across 160 metres in length, the Punakha suspension bridge is known for being one of the oldest suspension bridges in the world. The bridge helps to connect Punakha Valley from the rest of the Bhutanese region and it is one of the popular tourist sites of Punakha.

Chimi Lhakhang

Although this monastery is situated on the outskirts of Punakha, it is a popular tourist destination in the Punakha Valley. Built-in honor of Drukpa Kunley, the Dzong is beautifully decorated with Buddhist symbols and offers insights into the Buddhist culture.

Dochula Pass

Situated on the way to Thimphu from Punakha, Dochula Pass is another popular tourist site that attracts tourists with its 108 stupas built to honour all the lives of Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives during wars.

Ritsha Village

This is a lesser-known valley of Punakha located on the bank of rivers Pho Chu and Mo Chu. The village is also popular for being among the few places that produce both red and white rice in Bhutan.
