Khurjey Lhakhang

This is a temple complex located in the Bumthang Valley built on a rock that is known to have the imprints of the Guru Rinpoche’s body structure. The temples are also popular for hosting Kurjey Tsechu which creates a vibrant atmosphere in the valley attracting tourists in huge numbers.

Jakar Dzong

Popularly called the ‘castle of the white bird’, Jakar Dzong is the centre of attractions of this valley that has been built as a monastery. Nowadays, this monastery acts as a centre of Bumthang administration and a popular tourist place in this region.

Burning lake

One of the sacred lakes of the country, the Mebar Tsho also known as the burning lake is considered to house the hidden treasures of Guru Rinpoche. Buddhist people visit this place and light up small butter lamps that create it as if the water of the lake is burning. The place also needs to be visited with caution as many people have lost their lives due to the high current of the river.

Ura Valley

Located at a distance of 48km from the Jakar Dzong, this valley is home to one of the highest mountains in Bhutan, Mt. Gangkhar Puensum. Known for its country style and rich vegetation, this is one of the most unique places you can visit in this region.
